Hey, Ive been practicing meditation for 5 years now and it has really transformed my life. My relationships are so much more balanced and finally I feel satisfied. My husband and I both get on a lot better and for the past 4 years he's been meditating as well. I can't recommend it enough to my friends and family.

Thanks for the helpful pointers - they will get many beginners of to a great start :-)

Thanks for your comment Camilo

I agree that meditation retreats are valuable, personally I like nothing better. They can though have a diverse effect on beginners learning meditation. For some they can inspire a lifelong practice, for others it is too intense and they give up on meditation.

For anyone who has been practicing meditation for a while, doing a retreat is a great way to deepen the practice and appreciation of meditation.

Blessings

A great meditation tip for beginners is to go to a meditation retreat. The mental strength you get there is invaluable to start practicing daily, it also helps you to increase your awareness and go deep in meditation.

Ray it's about a month since you left the reply above and I gotta tell you man I've been thinking about it a lot. It's kinda hard to admit that you are right, but you are. It's like I can't keep fooling myself anymore.

Hi Shantyguy
personally speaking, meditating and getting stoned don't even fit in the same lifestyle. One is about becoming conscious and aware and the other is heading in the opposite direction. Also energetically getting stoned is impairing and dulls your vibration - not that great for you spiritually.

So I recommend sticking with meditating and letting go of your needs to be stoned by looking at exactly why you need to do it and find a way to fulfill that need that supports your evolving.

Om Shanti

Hi Elaine, thanks for your input.
Using mantra is a type of meditation, in India it is called 'japa'. TM meditation for example is a japa practice.
I'm happy it works for you, keep it up, and i hope you found things that are helpful to you in the article.

blessings

Having a special place you use everyday really helps.

Finding a mantra that works for you is good too. I use the word "Hu" (pronounced like hue) It helps me feel centered and in tune with spirit. It can be used by all religions. It is simply a way to say "I love you God"
