Opening To The Divine Truth

April 13, 2009 by Ray Baskerville

Our spiritual evolution  is a process of opening to the Divine, as the truth both within and without. The egoic personality is a fractured consciousness caught in the illusion of separation. All places of separation are places where we experience limitation – whether it is physical, emotional, mental or at any other dimension of our being. The spiritual process of unifying and healing them will take us out of limitation. There is no limit to how far that can expand. There is no end to the journey of consciousness evolving.

From the position of separation there are only so many possibilities, and they will all be limited. Our level of consciousness dictates the possibilities we can perceive and understand. Erronously when we are bound in identification with the egoic personality we believe our

perceived limitations are fact.

As we open to the Divine truth, we begin to move into the space of all potential possibilities. Possibilities we previously weren’t even aware of become apparent and show up in our lives. If we are then also in alignment with our destiny path, our life can unfold in ways we could not imagine from our previous limited perspective. A force guides us that knows the route and requirements of our evolution down to the minutest detail. We also find that we begin to serve a larger unfolding in the collective evolution, and the two processes are not separate.

The more we open to the Divine, the more Divine will open to us, there are no limits.  As ever we can meet our resistance here – the fear that wants to keep us small, limited, because small we understand, small feels safe and controllable. In fact as we open into the mystery we open space within ourselves for the unhealed to arise in. Another way to understand this is s we increase the vibrational frequency of our consciousness, the slower frequencies of pain and fear are pushed to the surface of awareness.

It is important to recognize there is a timing for our process. There is a right timing and we need to be honoring and respectful of that too. We are a very ‘doing’ species and we often apply this to our spirituality. We often want to push our way to awakening, so we do more meditation, more yogasana, more japa, more prayer, fasting, more of whatever os our spiritual praactice. In the world we are taught doing more gets you there, brings success.

Spiritually we won’t benefit from pushing ourselves to be where we are not because we then don’t notice where we actually are. When we can fully accept the places in separation in us, as they arise, we can embrace and reclaim them in love. We stop pushing to do, and learn to be. The Divine truth is always here, now, always present, as long as we are doing, even spiritual doing, we don’t notice, even though it is closer than our own skin.

    Great article!

“Spiritually we won’t benefit from pushing ourselves to be where we are not because we then don’t notice where we actually are.”

It truly is just about being here and now, and noticing what’s going on inside us. It’s effortless and simple–so simple that the mind has trouble with it and makes it into something else!

Ray, beautiful post! In a world of “doing”, we must realize that spiritual awakening operates in the realm of “being”. The more we understand the true nature of what we are, the more we are aligned with the Divine. From our higher perspective, we have infinite potential, where limiting beliefs have no place.

Letting go of resistance, naturally and without pushing, will allow our Higher Self to guide us to our higher calling. This requires a level of trust that the ego is often not willing to allow. Spiritual practices can help in the allowing part, but will work only as far as one can expand the “being” part, at the same time. The good news is that, once aware, one can only move forward. Better yet, one can only “be” forward…

Love this site, I am so happy I found it. I have done yoga in the past but with two young children, it’s been hard finding the time lately, although I am determined. I also will be taking mediation classes as soon as money permits. I love that I can then do them both at the same time. Thank you for all the information. I’ll be visiting here a lot and I am already following you on Twitter. :D Namaste!
