Marco Polo visited Ceylon (Shri Lanka) on his return trip. According to him, Buddah died and was entombed at the top of a high mountain in Ceylon. Local muslims insisted that the body was not of Buddah, but rather was the body of Adam.

That is a truly remarkable piece of architecture! I wish we had more of these in the West. It beats the dreary architecture in the UK by miles.
